Jackfruit


Artocarpus heterophyluss  /Jackfruit / Langka

Known as Langka in the Philippines, also available in many Asian countries. The  prickly green skin turns yellow as it ripens.  Its flesh contains edible seeds but the fruit’s skin and core as well as the skin of the seeds are inedible.  


Jack fruit can be eaten raw or cooked.  It can be used in fruit salads or added to ice cream The seeds can be roasted like peanuts they are also dried and milled into flour. In the Philippines it is cooked with coconut milk.
